About Us

The purpose of Black Students United is to provide a voice for Black students at California State University Monterey Bay. We aim to promote social and cultural awareness on campus, while improving and maintaining relations between Black students and students of other cultural backgrounds. Our initiative is to take an active role in the activities of the University and the surrounding communities.

Membership All BSU Cabinet Members must be enrolled and in good standing at the university, maintain a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) each term, and not be on probation of any kind. (I.e. Academic probation, Housing Probation etc.) Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected student officer positions shall not be limited on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender identity, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability. The organization shall have no rules or policies that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender, gender identity, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability. This organization shall prohibit all members and officers from engaging in hazing or committing any act that injures, degrades or disgraces any fellow student. CSU State Standard says that the Treasurer and the President of any on-campus club cannot have less than a 2.5 cumulative GPA and ICC GPA is 2.3.
