Mission
Section 1: The purpose of this organization is to sponsor and conduct programs and activities that further the mission, values, and objectives of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). As a recognized student organization (RSO) at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), this chapter is committed to upholding all campus policies outlined in the Student Organization Handbook. The organization shall use its best efforts to ensure that all programs and activities are consistent with NAMI’s stated values and contribute positively to the CSUMB community.
Section 2: NAMI on Campus at CSUMB is dedicated to supporting students whose lives are affected by mental illness and to educating those who wish to learn how to better support their peers. The organization seeks to create and maintain a safe, inclusive space where open, destigmatizing conversations about mental health and mental illness are encouraged and normalized.
Section 3:The organization promotes the importance of self-care as an essential component of mental wellness. Through workshops, events, and peer-centered initiatives, the organization strives to equip students with tools and strategies to care for their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Section 4:NAMI on Campus at CSUMB is committed to fostering both personal and professional development for its members. The organization supports opportunities for leadership, advocacy, skill-building, and community engagement to empower members to grow as individuals and as mental health leaders.
Membership Benefits
Section 1: Membership in the organization shall be open to all those regularly-enrolled CSUMB students who are interested in membership. There shall be no other requirements for admission to regular membership. Each regular member has equal rights and privileges.
Section 2: In accordance with state law and the regulations of the California State University, no organization shall discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability.
Section 3: Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected student officer positions shall not be limited on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender, gender identity, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability. The organization shall have no rules or policies that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, veteran status, gender, gender identity, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability.
