Parent and Family Reception

Welcome parents, families, and supporters of Otters! This reception on Move In Day is for you to come and be welcomed as the essential part of your student's journey that you are. Come receive some refreshments, hear from CSUMB's President, and remember to say goodbye to your otter. We will be taking students to community meetings and you'll have the chance to connect with other families. We look forward to seeing you there! Questions? Email orientation@csumb.edu.

Please note that the closest parking lot for this event is Lot 97 or Lot 18 but navigation across campus may take awhile due to congestion from move-in. A parking permit is required on campus at all times. We recommend walking to the event if you are able.

On Campus Job Fair

On-campus jobs offer a range of benefits that can positively impact a student's college experience and future career. Some of these benefits include:
Convenience: On-campus jobs are conveniently located, making it easier to manage work hours around class schedules without worrying about commuting.

Time Management: Working on campus encourages better time management skills. Students learn to balance academics, work responsibilities, and extracurricular activities, which can be beneficial in future careers.

Skill Development: These jobs often provide opportunities to develop various skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and customer service, which are highly valuable in any profession.

Networking: On-campus jobs facilitate networking opportunities with professors, staff, and other students. These connections can be beneficial for recommendations, references, and future career prospects.

Financial Support: Many students rely on part-time jobs to help cover tuition fees, living expenses, or other educational costs. On-campus jobs can provide a steady income source without interfering too much with studies.

Professional Development: Some on-campus jobs offer experiences that align with a student's field of study, providing practical, hands-on experience related to their future career path.

Flexibility: Many on-campus jobs are designed to accommodate students' schedules, offering flexible hours during busy academic periods.

Understanding Workplace Dynamics: Working on campus introduces students to workplace dynamics, office etiquette, and professional behavior, preparing them for future employment.

Resume Building: On-campus jobs can be a valuable addition to a resume, showcasing not just employment but also dedication, responsibility, and the ability to manage multiple commitments.

Supportive Environment: On-campus jobs often come with a support system where supervisors and colleagues understand and accommodate the demands of being a student.

These benefits make on-campus jobs a great option for students looking to gain valuable experience, develop skills, manage finances, and build a foundation for their future careers.

Some of these benefits include: convenience, time management skill development, networking, professional development, and above all a supportive environment. Stop by with your resume or ask about the types of job and internship opportunities that are available to you today!
