We can't think of a better way to start the academic year than diving into the Pacific Ocean with your friends and the campus community! The Plunge is a Cal State Monterey Bay tradition where we invite you and all Otters to dip into the cold ocean the day before classes. Start the year off strong and surrounded by your Otter community.
What to bring:
- Water
- Towel
- Warm layers
- Swimsuit
- High tolerance for cold water
Getting there
The Wave Shuttle from Campus (preferred option)
Wave shuttle buses will run from campus on loops from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. Meet in lot 71 to check in and receive a free exclusive Plunge swim shirt.
Self-Driving: (not preferred)
Use this address for the beach: 2600 Sand Dunes Dr, Monterey, CA 93940. The address is for the Monterey Tides Hotel. It is about 5 miles from campus and should not take more than 15 min to drive there. Please park in the beach parking lots to the North or South of the Tides Hotel. Parking is extremely limited.
Where to meet:
The Plunge takes place on the beach in front of The Tides Hotel. Please check in before arriving at the beach, either at the campus pick-up location or upon arrival.
Check-in is required to participate in The Plunge.
