HSI Week 2026

Celebrate CSUMB's identity as a Hispanic Serving Institution at the MB Summit. Open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members, this event will feature a series of workshops that celebrate and elevate Latiné perspectives while fostering learning and dialogue. Workshop topics will be announced soon. The summit will also feature keynote speaker Dr. Victor Rios. Breakfast and lunch included.

Join Keylin Figueroa from the MILPA Collective and Jason Agpaoa from the Asian Cultural Experience of Salinas (ACES) for a Q&A panel where they discuss the connection between their identities and studies, how they apply that knowledge in their work, and approaches to advocacy and coalition building.

Watch La Suprema, a powerful film about a young aspiring boxer and her community's fight to be seen in a town forgotten by the outside world. After the screening, join a facilitated discussion examining themes of erasure, anti-Blackness, visibility, representation, and collective resilience.

The panel discussion focuses on supporting Latine student success. Our panelists will share their stories, discuss student success initiatives including how they have developed partnerships across educational systems, and share their personal journeys of overcoming challenges.

Enjoy a special HSI-inspired lunch at the Dining Commons with delicious Latin American dishes celebrating Hispanic heritage. Grab a friend and dance to lively Mariachi music. Lastly, stop by our DIY table, where you will have an opportunity to create your own yummy to-go treat that packs a refreshing kick.

Get ready for the ultimate celebration during HSI Week: La Pachanga! A day of celebration filled with music, food, art and culture. Intended to recognize CSUMB's designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution.

All families are invited to El Centro for a fun-filled evening of community and connection. Enjoy a family-friendly movie, games, and light refreshments while spending quality time together and connecting with other student parents in a welcoming and supportive space.

Keep the good times going on the final morning of HSI Week by enjoying cultura, comunidad, and classic cars at the second annual Cafecito Con Carritos event! We will showcase unique and custom rides while learning about the history of lowrider culture. This is a space to connect with students, staff, and community members who share a passion for cars and cultura.

The week wraps up as we screen American Pachuco, a documentary that explores the history, culture, and enduring legacy of the pachuco movement. Through personal stories and historical perspectives, the film examines identity, resistance, and the lasting influence of pachucos on Chicano culture and American history.
