Details
Please Note: Although the event registration states that the event is "Free," there will be a $140 student orientation fee applied to your account after the enrollment confirmation deadline on July 31st. This is a mandatory student fee for all new students. No payment is required at the time of registration. The orientation fee is due on July 31st along with all other tuition and fees. Check-in will begin at 8 am and a continental breakfast will be provided. All attendees are encouraged to park in Lot 59, where they will receive a parking permit free of charge.
Guest Policy: Guests must be registered by their student in order to attend an orientation session. Payment of the guest fee is required prior to your orientation date. Refunds are permitted up to 2 weeks prior to the session date. Email your refund request to orientation@csumb.edu and include your student’s name, date of payment and reason for the refund. Requests received within 2 weeks of a session will not be accepted. Please note that a processing fee is charged for each refund requested. Refunds can take from 2-3 weeks to post and are returned to the credit card on file. Fees are transferable to a different date if you select a different session, email for more information.
Additional Considerations:
Minor participants/attendees must remain in the supervision of their parent, legal guardian or authorized/assigned chaperone during the course of this event. CSU Monterey Bay's staff, faculty, students, and guests will not be held responsible or liable for the supervision of any minor participant/attendee during the event.

Welcome to orientation! Every participant will begin their day by checking in with our staff and showing a valid form of identification. Please have the “Campus Groups” app downloaded to your phone to expedite the process. Once checked in, we invite you to enjoy a continental breakfast and mingle with other new and incoming students.

Understanding your finances is an important part of the college-going process. In this session, we will show you how to navigate your OASIS portal and learn how to complete your tuition-based payments. If you have financial aid disbursements, we will cover how those are applied and when they will show up on your account.
9:50 AM – 10:10 AM
Gather and meet other incoming students that have the same major. In this session current MB orientation leaders will give their advice on what students should know about CSUMB.
10:20 AM – 11:00 AM
Meet with your major advisor to learn requirements you must fulfill in order to graduate.
In this session, learn how to set up an appointment with your advisor, develop a learning plan, navigate oasis and review academic requirements to graduation.

The Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement survey is administered to all incoming students and helps the university proactively plan for the academic year ahead.

Time to eat! Information tables about student resources and departments will be available to answer any questions you have about campus services.

2:40 PM – 3:00 PM
Transitioning to another university takes time. In this session, you will learn about the Transfer Student Success Center (TSSC) services and peer mentors will share their advice with you! It's also your opportunity to ask any questions you have about transferring.
3:00 PM – 3:20 PM
Join us for closing remarks. We'll have some fun and test your knowledge of CSUMB by playing a game. We'll also allow time for you to complete your orientation survey so we can work to improve this experience for future students!
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Are you planning to live on campus in the fall? Our housing staff are available to give brief tours of showrooms after the closing session. The tour will show you what a sample room looks like and we are not able to accommodate individual tours. Staff will be on site to answer questions you may have.
