Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. was initially founded by Latinx individuals from Cal Poly Slo who sought brotherhood and "Carnalismo" in a community that alienated them. They laid out the foundation of an organization that would help students, many of whom are first-generation college students, be successful in college, and continue higher education.

Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. also works as a big network that is set to help its brothers on the long run. NAK can also help students benefit from a support system especially for the first generation college students. NAK has also been the #1 fraternity in academics for several years. Lastly, NAK is fortunate enough to have alumni brothers spread across several careers serving as a reference point for newly graduated brothers to reach out and be guided towards their goals.

Sigma Theta Psi is a multicultural, academic, and social sorority. The sorority was founded at San Jose State University in 1991. Sigma Theta Psi is known for their work with breast cancer awareness as their philanthropy, and the Zeta Chapter at CSUMB has also adopted alcohol awareness as a second philanthropy. Sigma Theta Psi members also strive to live by the means of honesty, loyalty, respect, open mindedness, leadership and academic excellence.

Theta Alpha Sigma is a Catholic based service and social sorority, which is founded on the premise of the following Six Core Elements: Sisterhood, Academic Support, Emotional Support, Community Service, School Participation, Spiritual Growth. Theta Alpha Sigma encourages the development of true, lifelong sisterhood through social activities. Theta Alpha Sigma provides its members with full academic and emotional support through an internal support base, as well as referrals to tutoring and counseling. Theta Alpha Sigma is involved in community service projects and remains active within the campus community. It also fosters, develops, and enriches the Catholic (Christian) faith through prayer, retreats, and reflection. To achieve spiritual growth Theta Alpha Sigma upholds Five Essential Components: participating in a worship community, celebrating liturgical seasons, emphasizing spiritual and religious growth, reflecting a commitment to social justice, and maintaining social ties with the larger Catholic community.
