The purpose of the Society shall be to encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.
Academic success, social events for members only, discounts for many places ranging from ice cream and Taco Bell, to SOMG checks, several scholarships, a lifetime membership, opportunities for leadership and community service/engagement, being able to enter as a GS-7 federal grade employee, and many options for seminars and conferences to build knowledge base in leadership and career opportunities
