To collectively imagine, support, and enact abolitionist and decolonial visions of learning at CSUMB through activism, education, dialogue, reparative work, and community building.
What is Abolition?
Abolition is a political vision with the goal of eliminating the need for imprisonment, policing, and surveillance by creating stronger communities bonded by reciprocal accountability. Abolition challenges state violence by imagining and enacting alternative solutions to the tasks of peacekeeping, conflict resolution, and self-defense.
What is Decolonization?
Decolonization is a reimagining of our relationships to the land, to each other, and to the state. Decolonization seeks to interrupt and reverse the ongoing dispossession of Indigenous peoples. This requires the "un-learning" of the extractivist ideology of settler colonialism and the re-centering of Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
