Nicole Steward is a San Jose, CA based social worker with a focus on public education, child welfare, and social justice. She is a K-12 homeless and foster youth liaison, president of the board for the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY), a member of the Santa Clara County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC), and is a facilitator of yoga asana and sound healing in her local community. With more than two decades of social work practice, Nicole has noticed the necessity for a trauma-informed lens to better understand the needs of those we serve and believes radical self-care is fundamental to discharge the toxic stress absorbed through our work so we can thrive. She is the author of Radical Self-Care for Helpers, Healers, and Changemakers (WW Norton, Feb/2025).
