For more information about orientation, be sure to visit our website. In-person orientation is mandatory for all incoming students and part II involves completing an online self-guided orientation module that is sent to your email account after your in-person session.
Please note: Although the event registration states that the event is "Free," there will be a $140 student orientation fee applied to your account after the enrollment confirmation deadline on December 1. This is a mandatory student fee for all new students. No payment is required at the time of registration. The orientation fee is due on January 5, 2025, along with all other tuition and fees. We welcome guests at orientation, but please note that there are two separate tracks for our students and guests. The fee is $40/ per guest and a guest ticket must be purchased at the time of registration via MyRaft. Guests and students will be separated during orientation and will have their own sessions
Check-in will begin at 8 am and a continental breakfast will be provided. All attendees are encouraged to park in Lot 71, where they will receive a parking permit free of charge.
Additional Considerations:
Minor participants/attendees must remain in the supervision of their parent, legal guardian or authorized/assigned chaperone during the course of this event. CSU Monterey Bay's staff, faculty, students, and guests will not be held responsible or liable for the supervision of any minor participant/attendee during the event.

8:00 AM – 8:50 AM
Welcome to orientation! Every participant will begin their day by checking in with our staff and showing a form of identification. Please have the “Campus Groups” app downloaded to your phone to expedite the process. Once checked in, we encourage you to explore the campus store for school-spirited swag. A continental breakfast will be available as well.
9:00 AM – 9:40 AM
Receive a warm welcome to CSU Monterey Bay from the Orientation Staff and administration. Here you will receive an overview of the schedule for the day and be enveloped in school pride and traditions.
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Have questions? Drop by the help desk located on the second floor of the OSU and a staff member will support you.
9:40 AM – 10:40 AM
Hear from current MB students on lessons learned, personal experiences, and valuable resources from the transfer student perspective.
10:10 AM – 10:30 AM
Representatives from accounting will give an overview on how to navigate your OASIS portal and complete your tuition-based payments.
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Gather and meet other incoming students who have the same major. In this session, current MB orientation leaders will give their advice on what students should know about CSUMB.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Time to eat! Information tables about student resources and departments will be available to answer any questions you have about campus services.

Being prepared for class on the first day of the semester means learning to read your schedule and becoming more familiar with campus. The orientation leader will show you how to pull up your class schedule and show you around the heart of campus.
1:00 PM – 1:40 PM
Join us for an engaging and interactive session on financial literacy, led by fellow students who understand the challenges of college life. Learn practical tips for budgeting, saving, and managing your money while participating in hands-on activities designed to make financial planning fun and approachable. Empower yourself with the tools to take control of your finances today!
1:50 PM – 2:50 PM
Meet with your major advisor to learn the requirements you must fulfill to graduate. Your academic advisor is a valuable resource and will assist you throughout your entire time at CSUMB.
3:00 PM – 3:20 PM
Join us for closing remarks to cement the day's learnings and pick up your Otter card before leaving campus.
3:20 PM – 4:00 PM
If you haven’t submitted your photo for your Otter card, you will take it now. You can use your Otter Card as: a library card, campus shuttle and MST bus pass, Otter Sports Center pass, key into your residence hall, and so much more!
